Articles

 A/An and The are called Articles. They are used before nouns

We have given names to all living and non-living things for our convenience to recognize them. Seeing things and recognizing things are quite different. 

Types of articles 

Indefinite - A/An

Definite - The

Indefinite  Articles :- Used for uncertain person or thing 

eg:- I Saw an beautiful woman.

Definite :- Used For Define/certain 

eg:-This the bike which I have brought.

Position Of Articles 

Article + Noun

• a question
• She is a businessman 

Articles + Adjectives + Noun

• She is a beautiful Girl.
• An important discussion.

Articles +Adverb+ Adjectives + Noun

• She is a very beautiful Girl.
• This is a very important discussion.

Differences Between  A/An;

A+ Consonant sound

• A book
• A year 
• A universe

 A+ Vowel Sound

Uses of an and a

A/An is used in the sense of one
eg:-I have a book

Use in sense of some a certain 
eg:- A Mr John wants to see you.

Used in the sense of Any 
eg:-he did not give me an apple

Representation
Eg:-A Cow is use full animal 

Use Before Singular Countable Noun
Eg:-I Need a cup of coffee.

To Make a common Noun of a proper noun

eg:- You are a Vampire

(Like a Vampire)

Before the Verbs used as noun

eg:- For a visit 

He proposed that we should go for a work

 A/An is Used in these phrases

Eg:- A pair of Shoes 

A/An Not Use For Adjectives 

eg:- He is honest    (He is a honest)

Not Use Before Plural nouns

Use of the

The is use before any names of 

Rivers, Ocean, Gulf, Group of Island, Trains, Countries, States

Before Directions 

Eg:-The south

Before the Names 

Before Physical  Positions 

eg:- The back of.

Before the Nationality

Eg:- The Indians, The Americans, The Chinese

Not Use before  the name of language 

Eg:-The french is spoken in france  

(French is spoken in France)

But If the write language then use the

Eg:- I Know the German Language 

Use Before Musical Instruments

eg:- The Guitar 

Use before the parts of body

eg:- The lungs

Use Before  the body part

eg:-The President

When proper noun is compared to other proper noun

eg:- Ahmadabad is the Manchester of India

We need to know the name of a thing to recognize it but to know the name is irrelevant with a thing to see. In communication nomenclature is a must. Nobody can communicate without knowing the names of things, living or nonliving. 

In perfect communication we have to express whether the thing we mention is defined or not. To solve this problem we use three tiny words called 'Articles'. They are 'A', 'An' and 'The
